The world of work is changing rapidly. Working conditions today are not the same as before and people no longer rely on holding one job for life. Discuss the possible causes for these changes and give your suggestion on how people should prepare for work in the future?

The nature of work has seen tumultuous change in recent years, causing people to face the prospect of having many jobs within one's lifetime. This essay shall explore the reasons for this change along with detailing possible methods of how the workforce can prepare for the future job market.

One of the clearest causes for the change in working environments is themanifestation of automation.  With the advent of computers combined withhigh-tech machinery, many manufacturing jobs have disappeared and thistrend is set to continue whereby almost all manufacturing jobs in the futurewill be handled by computerized technology. Robotics in vehicle production is a vivid example of this automated manufacturing. Another factor in thedisappearance of  'iron rice bowl' jobs is the fluidity in economics and how companies these days follow the trend of the economy by either quickly expanding, or conversely, downsizing or even going bankrupt, all of which leads to a relatively unstable job market.

Given this fluidity within the job market, it is clear that people need to consider their skill set. In other words, having just one skill, one expertise,no longer guarantees a person the same job or even the same career for life, and as such, should consider widening their range of skills through both experience and training. In line with this, and in conjunction with the modern digital age, the workforce, even in the most basic of jobs, will have to become computer savvy. Being able to code, for example, is almost a prerequisite for any type of office job, and in fact, university graduates are already expected to have this skill.

In conclusion, our world has seen incredible technological innovations over the last couple of decades, and with the evolution of the digital agecontinuing unabated, it is evident that those who do not have the skill sets required within this modern era will inevitably be left behind.
